Ok, just as an update, I've replied to the message I got explaining my
issue more at length. I've meanwhile also been contacted by a freebsd
kernel developer who will (or has) also sent an inquiry about that.
So far I haven't heard anything. Might be a good sign (the issue beeing
discussed at lengthy meetings ;)

Yup, definitely.
I am going to Russia for two weeks after easter, if I have no reply
until then I'll think about how to disassemble the windows driver.
