Ok so previously I said 2.6.19 worked and 2.6.20 failed.

I played with git today and the commit that breaks it is:
73778120c4088a0a7b59c4c378904f7a230b4820

It's a change to mmc_delay.

There are 37 patchsets between 2.6.19 and 2.6.20 in drivers/mmc (found
with git-format-patch -o ../git-patches/ v2.6.19..v2.6.20 drivers/mmc in
the linux-2.6 git tree) and this is number 16.

I'm not entirely sure what this means but perhaps I turned on some
preempt or different HZ or so on that's making the delay stuff not work
or I guess perhaps the code is wrong.

Anyway, this should help.

Tomorrow (when I'm not about to run away to the pub) I'll play with
taking that patch out of later 2.6 and seeing if it all works for me
there too.
